Here’s what this app does
Joplin is a free, open-source note-taking and to-do application for iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. Notes are organized into notebooks and support Markdown, tags, attachments, full-text search, to-do lists, imports, exports, themes, and community plugins. The apps are offline-first, so a local copy of the notes remains available without a constant internet connection.
Synchronization is optional. Joplin supports end-to-end encryption and can synchronize through supported targets such as Nextcloud, Dropbox, OneDrive, or the separately operated Joplin Cloud service. Encryption must be enabled and configured by the user; it should not be assumed to be active by default.
The core applications do not require a paid subscription. Joplin Cloud is an optional recurring service for hosted synchronization, note publishing, collaboration, storage, and related features. Some third-party synchronization providers may impose their own prices or limits. Details were checked against Joplin's official documentation, current cloud plans, and U.S. app-store listings on October 11, 2026.
