The essentials

Here’s what this app does

FreeReader reads imported books, documents, articles, and pasted text aloud. It offers chapter navigation, reading progress, adjustable playback, and voices across 31 languages. Libraries and projects are stored in the browser, so keeping an independent copy of original documents is useful.

The audiobook reader is free without a monthly listening or generation limit and does not require an account. A separate Narration Studio creates editable voiceovers and WAV exports. Its free plan includes one hour of narration per month and requires Google sign-in.

Optional narration plans are $6 per month for ten hours and $10 per month for twenty hours, with limited voice cloning in the higher plan. These paid allowances apply to video voiceovers, not ordinary audiobook listening.
